Chang Klan - Night Bazaar District

Chang Klan Road runs through Chiang Mai's famous Night Bazaar area where evening markets and tourist shopping dominate, but the daytime neighborhood reveals different character with local businesses and residential streets behind the tourist corridor.

The Night Bazaar operates as Chiang Mai's most accessible evening activity—tourist crafts, clothing, souvenirs, and street food concentrated in easy-to-navigate area near major hotels. It's completely touristy and everyone knows it, but the convenience and density make it work functionally.

Daytime Chang Klan shows the neighborhood supporting the night market—warehouses storing goods, restaurants preparing for evening rushes, residential sois where vendors live. The contrast between day and night use reveals the infrastructure behind tourist economy.

Monika's Tip

The Kalare Night Bazaar section has a huge food court that locals actually use—not just tourists. Go around 6:30 PM before the tourist dinner rush, sit in the back section where Thai families eat, and order from the stalls serving khao soi and northern Thai specialties to locals. Same location, ฿60 instead of ฿150 because you're eating where Thais eat instead of the tourist-facing stalls.
