Chiang Mai Gate turns into a different market once the sun goes down: papaya salad pounded to order, skewers turning over charcoal, desserts nobody outside Thailand has heard of. The walk moves through four or five stops on foot rather than sitting down at one, ending wherever the night's best vendor happens to be working.
Evening tour — pickup between 6–6:30 PM.
Chiang Mai Gate Market changes after dark: som tam pounded fresh to order, grilled meats turning over charcoal and desserts that rarely make it onto an English menu. This walk moves between four or five stops rather than settling at one stall; on Saturdays the route extends to Wua Lai Road, which closes to traffic for a night market the tourists mostly miss.

Your guide meets you in the lobby as the evening market stalls are setting up.
Start with som tam pounded to order, then move between stalls for grilled meats, Northern sausage and a dessert or two.
Continue on foot through the Old City's evening food stalls, stopping wherever the night's best vendor happens to be working.
On Saturdays, the route extends to this silversmith street, closed to traffic for a night market with its own food stalls and crafts.
Back to your hotel, thoroughly full.

“Born in Chiang Mai and based in Bangkok, I started 'Hi Monika' to show travellers the authentic side of my country — the places my friends and family actually hang out. I love sharing our food, our culture, and the hidden stories of our neighbourhoods.”
“Monika was incredible! We saw parts of Chiang Mai we never would have found on our own. The street food was amazing and we felt completely safe the entire time.”
“Perfectly organised and so much more personal than a group tour. Monika knew exactly when to go to each spot to avoid the crowds.”
Note: many local vendors and restaurants do not accept credit cards — cash is always the safest option.

Grilled seafood on the water as the sun drops. Thousands of fireflies lighting the mangroves after dark. Bangkok doesn't advertise this one.

Bangkok's best street food isn't on the tourist strip. Four to five stops by tuk-tuk — the vendors Monika actually goes to.

Watch Wat Arun and the Grand Palace light up from the river. Enjoy a Thai buffet dinner while Bangkok's skyline unfolds around you.
