A Buddha hidden for centuries. A tower built from donated porcelain. Three temples with stories most visitors walk past.
Three temples, three very different stories. Wat Pho holds Bangkok's Reclining Buddha and the city's oldest medical school. Wat Arun's iconic riverside tower is covered entirely in fragments of Chinese porcelain — donated by ordinary Bangkok residents in the early 1800s. And in the heart of Chinatown, Wat Traimit houses the world's largest solid-gold Buddha, hidden under plaster for centuries and only discovered by accident in 1955. Monika connects the dots.

Your guide meets you in the lobby and travels with you to the sites in a private, air-conditioned vehicle.
Bangkok's oldest temple complex. Walk alongside the 46-metre Reclining Buddha, learn what the 108 mother-of-pearl panels at its feet represent, and take part in the brass bowl merit ritual.
On the west bank of the Chao Phraya, directly across from Wat Pho. Up close the famous tower reveals itself as an intricate mosaic of Chinese porcelain chips — Monika explains exactly how and why it was decorated this way, and by whom.
Deep in Chinatown. The 5.5-tonne solid-gold statue was hidden under plaster for centuries — only discovered in 1955 when a crane dropped it during a move and the casing cracked. Monika explains who hid it, when, and why.

“Born in Chiang Mai and based in Bangkok, I started 'Hi Monika' to show travellers the authentic side of my country — the places my friends and family actually hang out. I love sharing our food, our culture, and the hidden stories of our neighbourhoods.”
“Monika was incredible! We saw parts of Bangkok we never would have found on our own. The street food was amazing and we felt completely safe the entire time.”
“Perfectly organised and so much more personal than a group tour. Monika knew exactly when to go to each spot to avoid the crowds.”

The Emerald Buddha isn't emerald. The Reclining Buddha maps the cosmos. There's more here than most visitors ever find out.

Bangkok's original roads are canals. Most of the city has forgotten. This tour remembers.

Four sites. Two sides of the river. The history that connects them — and a day that actually makes sense of Bangkok.
