Three Kings Monument

Three Kings Monument
Iconic bronze monument honoring three founding kings of Chiang Mai.
The Three Kings Monument stands at the symbolic heart of Chiang Mai's Old City, three life-sized bronze statues depicting the rulers who, according to history, jointly established the city in 1296. The figures of the kings of Chiang Rai, Chiang Saen, and Phayao stand in consultation with each other, an image of northern Thai unity that has become one of the city's defining landmarks.
The open plaza surrounding the monument is active at most hours of the day and well into the evening, surrounded by some of the Old City's most historically significant buildings. It serves naturally as a starting point for walking tours and a regular meeting spot for locals, one of those places in a city that functions as both landmark and living public space.
