Erawan Waterfall

Kanchanaburi's most famous natural attraction features seven emerald-green tiers perfect for swimming, located 65km (1 hour) from Kanchanaburi town, 200km (3+ hours) from Bangkok.

Crystal clear water achieves vivid emerald coloration from limestone presence. Pools full of fish provide natural "pedicure" experience as they nibble dead skin. Refreshingly cool temperatures create relief from tropical heat.

The seven tiers named Hlai Khun Rang, Wang Matcha, Pha Nam Tok, Oke Nang Pee Sau, Buar Mae Long, Dong Prucksa, and Phu Pha Erawan (top tier where rock resembles three-headed elephant during rainy season). Entry ฿300 foreigners, ฿100 Thais, operating 8 AM-5 PM typical.

Monika's Tip

Already covered in Adventure & Active category as hiking destination, but worth repeating: arrive 8 AM park opening, hike straight to tier 7 without stopping, swim there when it's empty, then enjoy all lower tiers descending when tour groups are ascending past you. This strategy delivers tier 7 before crowds.
