About this tour

Two markets, two entirely different experiences. Damnoen Saduak is Thailand's most famous floating market — wooden boats laden with produce navigating canals that have been a trading route since 1866. Maeklong is something else: a working street market built directly along active railway tracks. When the train passes, vendors fold their entire stalls back in seconds — then set everything up again before the train is out of sight. Both in one day, with time to explore properly at each.

Tour Highlights

  • Damnoen Saduak by boat — navigating the canal network past vendors selling fresh fruit, Thai snacks and local produce from wooden rowboats
  • The quieter side canals away from the main route — where Monika finds the vendors and atmosphere most visitors miss
  • The Maeklong Railway Market — watching the entire market fold itself back as the train arrives, then spring back to life in seconds
  • The story behind both markets — Damnoen Saduak's canal dug on royal orders in 1866, Maeklong's decades-long coexistence with an active rail line

Tour runs approx. 8h

Hotel Pickup

An early start — your guide meets you in the lobby. Please be ready at your confirmed pickup time as the day's schedule depends on it.

Damnoen Saduak Floating Market

Board a traditional wooden rowboat and navigate the canal network. Vendors sell fresh produce, Thai snacks and local specialties from boats on the water. Monika guides you through the market — including the quieter side canals where the atmosphere is more authentic.

Maeklong Railway Market

A market built directly on active train tracks. Browse the stalls — then watch the entire market transform in seconds when the train arrives, umbrellas folding and produce pulling back to let it through, then everything returning to normal almost immediately.

Monika was incredible! We saw parts of Bangkok we never would have found on our own. The street food was amazing and we felt completely safe the entire time.

Perfectly organised and so much more personal than a group tour. Monika knew exactly when to go to each spot to avoid the crowds.
