Gold shops, red lanterns, century-old alleys and the street food stalls locals actually queue at. Chinatown on foot, properly.
Yaowarat is Bangkok's Chinatown — gold shops, red lanterns and some of the city's best street food packed into a few dense blocks. Talad Noi, directly behind it, is the quieter old quarter most people walk straight past: narrow sois, century-old shophouses, boat repair workshops still running, and street art that tells the story of the neighbourhood. This is a walking tour with genuine stops — not a loop of the obvious landmarks.

Your guide meets you in the lobby and travels with you in a private, air-conditioned vehicle.
Walk Yaowarat Road and its side streets. Gold shops stacked floor to ceiling, wholesale spice vendors, fresh produce stalls. Monika explains the history of the Thai-Chinese community and how this neighbourhood became the commercial engine of early Bangkok.
Step off the main road into the narrow sois of Talad Noi. Street art on old shophouse walls, century-old workshops still in operation, and a pace that feels very different from the street outside. Monika points out the details most people walk straight past.
Multiple stops throughout — fresh fruit, Thai snacks and dishes from the stalls locals actually queue at. This is not a formal tasting menu; it's how Monika eats when she's in the area.

“Born in Chiang Mai and based in Bangkok, I started 'Hi Monika' to show travellers the authentic side of my country — the places my friends and family actually hang out. I love sharing our food, our culture, and the hidden stories of our neighbourhoods.”
“Monika was incredible! We saw parts of Bangkok we never would have found on our own. The street food was amazing and we felt completely safe the entire time.”
“Perfectly organised and so much more personal than a group tour. Monika knew exactly when to go to each spot to avoid the crowds.”
Note: many local vendors and restaurants do not accept credit cards — cash is always the safest option.

The Emerald Buddha isn't emerald. The Reclining Buddha maps the cosmos. There's more here than most visitors ever find out.

A Buddha hidden for centuries. A tower built from donated porcelain. Three temples with stories most visitors walk past.

Bangkok's original roads are canals. Most of the city has forgotten. This tour remembers.
