MahaNakhon Tower (Pixel Building)

MahaNakhon Tower (Pixel Building)
Bangkok's tallest building wraps itself in a 3D pixel pattern spiraling up 314 meters like a glitching video game loaded into physical reality.
The design creates this optical illusion where chunks of the tower appear carved away, leaving the exposed "interior" visible from across the city.
Opening in 2016, it immediately displaced Baiyoke Tower as Bangkok's height champion while simultaneously becoming the city's most divisive architectural statement. The Tetris Building nickname fits—those missing pixel blocks look exactly like someone's playing a vertical game of Tetris and losing badly.
The observation deck (King Power Mahanakhon SkyWalk) operates commercially, offering those vertigo-inducing glass floor sections and panoramic city views. But the exterior photography from street level or neighboring buildings delivers the more interesting architectural perspective—watching how the pixelated pattern creates different shapes depending on viewing angle.

Monika's Tip
The best free exterior shot is from Lumphini Park's southwest corner around 5 PM when the setting sun hits the tower from the side. The pixel shadows get dramatic depth and you're not paying ฿880 just to photograph the building—you're photographing it properly from ground level.
