State Tower

State Tower
Sixty-eight stories of neoclassical architecture crowned with a golden dome housing Bangkok's most famous rooftop bar where the Hangover II was filmed and everyone now performs the mandatory arms-spread-wide photo at 820 feet elevation.
The same architect who designed the Ghost Tower (Rangsan Torsuwan) created this one—fortunately completing construction before his legal troubles. The identical curved balconies extending from each apartment create this rippling facade effect, while the Sirocco sky bar and Mezzaluna restaurant occupy the crown jewel dome.
It's touristy. The drink minimum is expensive. The dress code is enforced strictly. And none of that matters because the view delivers exactly what people want—sweeping panorama of Bangkok and the Chao Phraya River that no amount of Instagram saturation has diminished.

Monika's Tip
The Sirocco bar gets impossibly crowded at sunset and they enforce a drink minimum the second you step up. Instead, go to the Breeze restaurant one floor below—fewer people, same views, slightly lower drink prices, and you can actually move without bumping tourists posing for photos.
